Man stabs wife to death over ‘infidelity’

Suspecting her of infidelity,a man allegedly killed his wife in front of his children and sister-in-law early morning on Thursday.

After a loud argument at their residence in the servant quarters of Jodhpur House,Tilak Marg,Raju Kumar took a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife Usha several times,the police said. Kumar works as a sweeper in Children’s Park near India Gate and Usha worked as a domestic help.

“Kumar’s sister-in-law Pooja made a call to the Police Control Room around 1.30 am. We reached the spot and rushed the profusely bleeding victim to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival,” a senior police officer said. “Later,Pooja said in her statement that the couple fought often because Kumar suspected Usha of having an extra marital affair.”

During the melee,their 12-year-old daughter tried to stop Kumar from stabbing Usha,but he pushed her away. “The accused is absconding. A police team has been formed to nab him and he will be arrested soon,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Shanker Dass said.

The couple had been married for 18 years.
