Man stabbed over 25 times by group of teens, body dragged on road in Southeast Delhi

The deceased, Gaurav Singh, worked odd jobs to help his family. Police said he recently had a fallout with a group of local boys over petty issues. They fought Monday-Tuesday after which Gaurav allegedly scolded the boys and hit them, police said.

A 22-year-old man was brutally stabbed over 25 times allegedly by a group of teenagers, who then proceeded to drag his body onto the road in a Southeast Delhi locality. However, policemen on patrol caught them in the act, following which the juveniles tried to escape. Three of them were apprehended after a 2-km chase. The man succumbed to his injuries.

To settle scores, the boys waylaid Gaurav and attacked him on Tuesday night.

DCP (Southeast) Rajesh Deo said two head constables were patrolling in the same locality when they spotted five boys dragging Gaurav. “He was badly injured and unconscious… The boys saw the police team and ran toward the NTPC (station). The team acted in time and chased them. Three of them were caught… The man, however, had died,” said Deo.

A purported video from the spot shows the three boys running near the NTPC station and a police officer chasing them. The officer manages to catch one of the boys. Police said the area Station House Officer and other staffers were also involved in nabbing the teenagers.

An officer said the trio revealed that they had a fight with Gaurav and wanted to settle scores. “They stabbed him multiple times. We questioned them and two of their associates who aided them were also caught,” added Deo.

A blood-stained weapon used in the crime was recovered from their possession.
