Man on the run after parents and brother found with their throats slit

A 22-year-old man, said to be suffering from mental illness, allegedly slit the throats of his parents and his elder brother before bragging about it to his friends in Delhi’s Maidangarhi area on Wednesday evening.

The police identified the dead as Prem Singh (50), his wife Rajani (45) and their elder son Ritik (24).

Around 6.30 pm, accused Siddharth, who is on the run, allegedly came out of his house, and told his friends that he has “dealt” with his family and is now running away. His whereabouts have been unknown since then, police said.

“Prima facie it has emerged that he had disclosed to someone that he had murdered his family and would not live there anymore,” DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan said.

Police said that in a PCR call received around 7 pm on Wednesday, they were informed that a man had been found lying in a pool of blood inside house number 155 at Satbari Kharak village in Maidangarhi. The body was allegedly of Ritik.

“When a police team reached the spot, three persons were found dead,” the DCP said.

Prem were found dead on the ground floor. “Prem’s body was on the floor, on the foot of a single bed. Ritik was found with his throat slit on the same bed,” said an officer, adding that the murder weapon, a knife, was found squeezed on the side of Rajni’s body, with blood oozing out of her neck.

During the probe, police claimed to have found documents and medication,suggesting Siddharth’s prolonged treatment of OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) and anger management issues.

“Documents found have revealed that Siddharth was undergoing treatment at multiple mental health institutions since the last 12 years. He was suffering from OCD and aggressive behavioural patterns. It has also come to light that he was not very fond of his family due to psychiatric issues,” the DCP said.

“Local residents claimed that the family was always worried as Siddharth would run away from home and won’t return for days. He also had frequent arguments with his family and allegedly consumed drugs,” said an officer.
