Man on NIA’s wanted list arrested in Delhi

The National Investigation Agency had placed a reward of Rs 3 lakh on Rizwan Ali, who is allegedly linked to the Islamic State. Ali was arrested late on Thursday night.

NIAA First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Special Cell police station in Delhi.

The Delhi Police on Thursday night arrested Rizwan Ali, who is allegedly linked to the Islamic State (IS) and is wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in several cases, officials said on Friday. The NIA had placed a reward of Rs 3 lakh on Ali.

A resident of Daryaganj, Ali was arrested near Ganga Baksh Marg, close to Biodiversity Park, at around 11 pm. He was arrested with a .30 bore pistol and three live cartridges. Two mobile phones were also seized from his possession.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Special Cell police station in Delhi.

The police said that Ali has a history of criminal activities, with multiple FIRs lodged against him. On July 22, 2023, he was booked under various charges related to theft and forgery, among others, alongside sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The NIA is investigating this case registered in Mumbai’s Kalachowki.

A few weeks later, on September 18, 2023, Ali was booked under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, the UAPA, and the Explosives Act. The NIA is also investigating this case, initially registered at the Special Cell police station in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony.
