A 35-year-old man died during treatment after being allegedly assaulted by three of his tenants and their friend in the early hours of Wednesday in Central Delhi’s Bapa Nagar area. M Harsha Vardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Delhi), said the four accused, all identified as minors, were apprehended within hours of the crime. Vardhan said the accused attacked Mohit, who ran a grocery store, with a frying pan. “The incident occurred around 3.30 am when an altercation began following an argument. The accused, three of whom were tenants living in Mohit’s house, had been consuming alcohol when the quarrel erupted. The dispute allegedly started over issues of noise and the use of abusive language,” the officer said. Vardhan said Mohit was severely injured during the confrontation, and was later rushed to Sir Gangaram Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He added charges under the section of murder have been invoked in the case. “The accused, who reportedly work in local jeans factories, have been found to be juveniles according to their Aadhaar cards,” Vardhan said. He added further verification and investigation are currently underway. Mohit is survived by his wife and children, said the officer.
