Man killed after being tied to a truck, one arrested

A police team reached the spot and took the man, later identified as Daya Kishan, to the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

A man in his early 20s was killed after he was allegedly tied to a truck and hit repeatedly on the head with a brick at Northwest Delhi’s Keshavpuram on October 20. One person was arrested in connection to the incident on Tuesday.

Police said the accused, Amit alias Pawwa, allegedly killed Daya Kishan as he wanted to “gain notoriety”.

On October 20, police received information that a man had been found near the Metro line in Wazirpur, tied to a truck with a dupatta and bleeding from the head. A police team reached the spot and took the man, later identified as Daya Kishan, to the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Police said local residents led them to Amit who was arrested from Prembari Pul at Wazirpur.

A scrutiny of CCTV camera footage showed Daya Kishan wandering in an inebriated condition, an officer said. “Upon finding the victim in an intoxicated state, Amit tied him to a truck with a dupatta and repeatedly hit him on the head with a brick, causing his death,” said DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh.
