On Tuesday, Head Constables Krishan and Shiv Kumar were deployed for routine patrolling at Krishna Market of Central Delhi’s Paharganj when a dramatic turn of events unfolded. A man with a knife in his hand allegedly trespassed into a woman’s office and threatened her: “Ab dekhta hun tum kisi aur se kaise shaadi karti ho? (Now, I will see how you dare to marry someone else…)” Identified as Karan, the 27-year-old man was allegedly stalking his former fiancée before he threatened to kill her. He has been arrested. Nidhin Valsan, DCP, Central, said, “In her statement, the woman said that she was in a relationship with the accused. Their engagement was called off six months ago. Since then, the accused had been allegedly harassing and threatening her.” On the day of the incident, the DCP added, the accused allegedly entered her office, assaulted her, and threatened her for refusing to marry him. The woman then raised an alarm, and with the help of people around, and timely police intervention, the accused was overpowered and the woman was rescued, said officers.
