Man electrocuted at Ramlila event in Delhi’s Anand Vihar

The 20-year-old electrician was repairing an LCD screen when he was electrocuted, according to the Delhi Police.

A 20-year-old electrician was electrocuted while fixing an LCD screen during the Shri Hanumant Ramlila in Delhi’s Anand Vihar area on Sunday evening, the police said.

The deceased was identified as Veeru aka Aryan, a resident of Mandoli. He used to regularly come to the event organised by Shri Hanumant Ramlila Dharmik Committee at the CBD ground near Karkarduma. According to the police, Veeru was the vendor employed by the committee to look after the maintenance of all the LED and LCD lighting during the event.

On Sunday evening, Veeru was backstage, performing repair work on a large LCD screen when he touched a live wire, the police said. He fell after receiving the shock, but the Ramlila continued even as people rushed to his rescue, according to a police source.

Veeru was rushed to the Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan in Karkardooma, where the doctors declared him dead, said Prashanth Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara. A case was registered at the Anand Vihar police station.
