A 22-year-old man clad in yellow shirt and blue jeans trousers was crushed to death by a Delhi Metro train while he was crossing the track, officials said on Wednesday. The incident occurred while he was crossing the tracks at Qutab Minar Metro Station on November 12, officers said, adding that they are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased. "He was crushed between the Metro station and the train and was rushed to the hospital. The body is kept at the mortuary of AIIMS Trauma Centre,” said an officer. Police mentioned that the name ‘Sunil’ was tattooed on his right forearm. “The postmortem was conducted on November 23 and the blood sample for intoxication and tooth for identification have been taken," said an officer. "It is clarified that the (video) pertains to an incident on Nov 12, wherein, one passenger, while trying to cross from one platform to another in an unauthorized manner via tracks, got stuck between the platform edge and the approaching train at Qutab Minar station. The train operator immediately applied the emergency brakes and passenger was promptly rescued and extracted by the station staff and sent to the AIIMS trauma centre," said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communication, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. "Passengers are strongly advised to never attempt to unauthorisedly cross or walk on the Metro tracks or enter restricted areas," Dayal added.
