Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the 12th K K Luthra Memorial Moot court Competition Sunday, Justice Jasti Chelameswar of the Supreme Court, exhorted young lawyers to take advantage of new technologies available for practice in courts.

Justice Chelameswar, who was part of the bench that struck down Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, told the participants that while senior lawyers may be more aware of the law, the young ones were more aware of new technology and therefore, should assist the courts on issues such as the debate of the controversial IT Act provision.

Justice Chelameswar also encouraged young lawyers to “read judgements and laws in their free time”, adding that there was a huge difference in classroom learning of the law and actual practice.
