L-G Khanna announces Rs 1,500-crore project to clean up river

Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna has announced he construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) for 18 major drains flowing into the Yamuna.

Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna has announced he construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) for 18 major drains flowing into the Yamuna. The Rs 1500-crore project,to be completed in 30 months,was announced at the flagging off ceremony of the Yamuna Rally at the Jamia Millia Islamia University,organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in collaboration with the NGO ACORD. Khanna said work has been handed to Engineers India Limited and would ensure that sewage flowing into the Yamuna is properly treated.

Khanna also urged city residents to join hands with the government in the challenging task of cleaning up the river.
