Days after the Delhi government said it had received a legal notice on behalf of an NGO which contained allegations of corruption against Special Secretary (Vigilance) Y V V J Rajasekhar, the NGO chairman wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stating that the notice was fake.

“I have never made a complaint against YVVJ Rajasekhar either individually or on behalf of Abhinav Samaj. I am retired from the government and have worked under him in 1999. After that I never met him… according to my experience he has been an honest officer. The so-called complaint/notice is fake, fictitious and made with mala-file intention… If it is a legal notice, it must have been sent by an advocate. Please investigate him as well,” wrote NGO chairman GK Gupta.

The notice was addressed to Kejriwal and services minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on the letterhead of a law firm called Milind M Bharadwaj & Associates and said it was being sent on the instructions of their client, Abhinav Samaj.

Gupta told The Indian Express that he had worked with the law firm in the past but had no interaction with them in the recent past. “My NGO works for the poor and the destitute. I have nothing to do with these things. I was in touch with the law firm in the past but have not contacted them for anything recently,” he said.

Rajasekhar, meanwhile, wrote to the Union Home Secretary and the Press Council of India on the matter and asked that it be entrusted to central investigation agencies.

The Delhi government, in response, however, said, “The lawyer who had furnished the original complaint, has sent a letter to the government, acknowledging and verifying the existence of the said complaint. He has stated that his client has now backtracked from their stand, either under fear or inducement of some vested interests.”

Rajasekhar was divested of his duties on the direction of Delhi Services Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on May 13.

He has denied all allegations against him and submitted a 157-page report to Delhi L-G V K Saxena and the MHA refuting the charges.
