Last Metro train to run at 8 pm on Diwali

Metro services will be affected on Wednesday due to the Diwali festivities,and the last train will leave at 8 pm instead of 11 pm.

The final train from the terminal stations of all the six lines — Dilshad Garden,Rithala,Jahangirpuri,Huda City Centre,Noida City Centre,Dwarka Sector-21,Yamuna Bank,Vaishali,Inderlok,Mundka,Central Secretariat and Badarpur Metro stations — will leave at 8pm,the Delhi Metro said in a statement.

The service,however,will run as usual for the rest of the day — starting at 6 am.

However,in view of the expected rise in the number of commuters using the Metro on the occasion of Bhai Duj on Friday (October 28),trains will run at peak-hour frequency from 8 am to 8.30 pm. Over 15 trains,which are normally withdrawn from lines during off peak hours (12.30 pm to 4.30 pm),will be kept in service to make over 200 extra trips — a total of about 2,700 trips on that day.

Officials said DMRC will also deploy more Customer Facilitation Agents to help commuters at busy Metro stations,and operate additional ticket counters,if required,to handle the increased load on the ticketing system Metro train services on Bhai Duj will be available from 6 am to 11 pm,as per the normal schedule.
