L-G orders two-month drive against ‘illegal immigrants from Bangladesh’ in Delhi
Citing the Bangladesh situation, the delegates demanded stringent action against infiltrators from the country residing in Delhi.

The L-G Secretariat Tuesday directed the Delhi Chief Secretary and Police Commissioner to launch a special drive in the next two months to identify and take action against “illegal immigrants from Bangladesh” residing in Delhi as “demanded by the Muslim community” in the Capital.
The move comes in the wake of a representation made by a delegation of ulemas (clerics) and Muslim leaders from Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin and Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin to L-G VK Saxena Saturday expressing “deep concern” over the attack on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh, the L-G Secretariat stated.
Citing the Bangladesh situation, the delegates demanded stringent action against infiltrators from the country residing in Delhi.
“… if Bangladesh continues to mistreat my Hindu brothers — who are minorities there — then the government of India should take strict action against ‘illegal’ Bangladeshi immigrants… It is my duty to speak up for my brothers in Bangladesh. If this continues, the illegal immigrants in India must be evicted,” a representative from the delegation said.
According to the Secretariat, the delegation requested that “illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators” should neither be given houses on rent nor employment by any establishment; their children not be given admission in any school; “infiltrators” be removed from roads, footpaths, parks and other government land “forcefully encroached” upon, and cancellation of identity documents such as Aadhaar Card, Voter IDs “acquired illegally” by them.
