Handing the court a sealed envelope containing a synopsis of investigation conducted into the suicide of former MDLR air hostess Geetika Sharma, police on Saturday said that her cellphone as well as call detail records were still to be recovered.
Seeking extension of accused Gopal Goyal Kandas police custody, prosecutor Rajiv Mohan said the hard disk of a computer at Kandas residence, purportedly containing information that could help the probe, was missing and the MDLR chief was being evasive on being questioned about the missing cellphones and hard disk.
Police said investigation into Kandas trip to Dubai to visit Geetika in 2010,when she was an employee of Emirates Airlines, was incomplete. Kanda had provided police a copy of only one of the three passport booklets issued in his name. The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D K Jhangala extended Kandas police custody by three days.
Earlier,Kandas counsel said the police were trying to harass his client and compel his testimony by intimidatory interrogation. Advocate Ramesh Gupta said: Do the case diaries show that other police officers, apart from the Investigating Officer (IO),were asking me questions?
Police sources said they were trying to trace three mobile phones used by Kanda. A copy of the case report submitted by police states that the …mobile phone may contain important videographs, photographs, etc… the evidence may be incriminating.
Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan said Kanda was not providing the police the mobile phones. He said though Geetika had resigned from MDLR and taken admission in a MBA course,Kanda paid the course fee without the knowledge of her family.
