Amid ongoing tension between India and Bangladesh over the arrest of former ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, the AAP on Thursday condemned his arrest and urged the Centre to engage with the Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the security of ISKCON devotees and the broader Hindu community in the neighbouring country. Former CM and party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in a post on X wrote, “The entire nation stands in solidarity with priest Chinmay Krishna Das who was unjustly arrested in Bangladesh. I appeal to the Centre to intervene in the matter and release Chinmay Das as soon as possible.” Senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also visited ISKCON temple to meet the priests and extend their support to them on Thursday. Addressing the press after visiting the temple, Sisodia asserted that India must respond strongly to defend ISKCON’s reputation. “How can an organization that has spread the message of humanity and peace globally be labeled a terrorist organisation,” he asked.
