Stating that the odd-even scheme had seen nearly “100 per cent” participation from people, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said an “improved version” will be “announced” and “implemented soon”.
Kejriwal was speaking at a function to thank people for making the scheme a success, at Chhatrasal Stadium Sunday.
He added that a review meeting will be held Monday to decide the future of the scheme.
Praising civil defence volunteers who helped in enforcing the scheme, Kejriwal said the work done by them gives him confidence that, in the future, if the government wants to do something on a large scale it would rely on the volunteers.
“… Before the odd-even scheme, there used to be 20 lakh cars on the road… I always maintained that to make it successful, we need to win people’s hearts. We did not use authoritative ways like other countries. I told people that I will stop the scheme if it inconveniences them. People realised the benefit. Congestion and traffic jams were nowhere to be seen,” he said.
