I perhaps took it too easy,says Krishan

The current phase is crucial. We have to understand that there are some shortcomings,be it not understanding the scoring system,or our tactics. In Rio,we will be without headgear,so defence will be key. We need to play as many tournaments as we can,and plan more systematically.

What happened in your second round bout in London?

Maybe I took it easy. When I enter the ring,I do what suits me best. I wanted to score mainly in the first and third rounds. It was our plan to show him (Errol Spence) that I was tired in the third and to score on the counter. According to me,that plan worked. But not for the jury.

Are you critical of the judges in London?

Manoj,my room-mate,feels we should have protested after his bout. All I know is that seven of us qualified and had even one won a medal,it would’ve been a big boost for Indian boxing.

Did your tactics backfire?

I know that a lot of people criticised me,but I have played a defensive game since my junior days. I would say it was more of not adapting to the scoring system. It takes time.
