One of the dogs, which was injured in the attack
Late on Tuesday, two sisters, residents of Khoda in Ghaziabad, received a knock on their door. On the other side was a group of neighbours they had an argument with a few minutes back over walking their pet dogs on the lane outside. As they opened their gate, an argument ensued between the two sides and soon, one of the men took out a knife to attack the sisters, both in their 20s.
At this, two of their three pet dogs jumped in, attacked the men and sent them packing from the house.
“An FIR has been registered today (Thursday) and we have arrested Kunwar Pal, 35, the main accused in the case. We are trying to nab the others,” said a police official.

The dogs have been admitted at a veterinary hospital. “One of them got 25 stitches and the other 18 stitches,” said the official.
The incident took place when the father of the two women, who had gone to Alwar, was on his way back home. Speaking to The Indian Express, Sundar Singh said, “My neighbour Pal and his landlord along with others got into a spat with my daughters, Poonam, 22, and Puja, 20, when they had taken the dogs out for a walk around 8.30pm.” A few minutes later, they came to their house. “They started misbehaving with my daughters. Our pet dogs Taru and Buzzo intervened. They (the neighbours) attacked my daughters and wounded the dogs with the knife,” Singh claimed.
An FIR was registered under relevant sections. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, SHO of Khoda Police Station, said they are scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the weapon used in the attack.
“One of my dogs was injured very badly. I don’t think he will make it…” said Singh.
