Ghaziabad police registered two FIRs against Bhupendra Tomar alias Pinky Chaudhary, leader of Hindu Raksha Dal, for threatening a traffic policeman and “using abusive language about Hindu religion”.
A purported video, where a group of Chaudhary’s supporters were seen misbehaving and threatening a traffic cop who had issued a challan again a mini truck for using religion-related remarks, has also emerged. The UP police has been issuing challans against those using stickers signifying caste or religious remarks on vehicles.
One of the FIRs has been registered at Nandgram police station for rioting with deadly weapon, breach of peace, causing hurt and deterring a public servant from discharging their duty, among others. Along with Chaudhary, the driver of the mini truck and 10-12 other persons have been booked in the case.
“On October 1, I was on my duty at Morti Tiraha at Nandgram police station area. Around 4.30 pm, I issued a e-challan for traffic violations against a mini truck which was going towards Hindon Airport. Due to this, the driver misbehaved with me. After a while he came back with 10-12 people and they misbehaved with me. One of them, Pinky Chaudhary threatened me and interfered with my work,” read the FIR registered on the complaint of Dinesh Kumar, head constable, traffic police.
The second FIR has been registered against Chaudhary at Shalimar Garden police station. “We have received a video, which shows Chaudhary used abusive language about Hindu religion along with his supporters and religious sentiments have been hurt. Taking cognizance of the video, a case has been registered,” said Suryabali Maurya, ACP Shalimar Garden.
