Haryana govt’s green signal for widening of SH-26

Officials said the project will start from Gurgaon and connect Jhajjar, Farookhnagar and Pataudi to Rewari.

The Haryana government approved widening of State Highway-26, that connects Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari, into four-lane roads. According to an official, this project will not only boost economy but will also provide much relief to commuters. It will also help decrease traffic on NH-8, the official said.

Officials said the project will start from Gurgaon and connect Jhajjar, Farookhnagar and Pataudi to Rewari.

Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is ready and will cost around Rs 291 crore.

However, an official said, the government could face some obstructions. “As per the DPR, one of the roads will pass through Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, which is an eco-sensitive zone. Some trees need to be cut on the Jhajjar-Farookhnagar road. The DPR has been sent to the Wildlife and Forest departments. Work will begin as soon as the state gets all the clearances,” the official said.
