A 42-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his father and assaulting his wife with a cricket bat and a steel water camper at their home in Gurgaon’s Bhimgarh Kheri village.
Police said that on Tuesday evening, Aryan Hospital informed them about the death of Gulab Singh (75) and the injuries sustained by Preeti (37), the wife of Neeraj.
When a police team reached the hospital, doctors had at the time said that Preeti was unfit to give a statement.
“On Wednesday, the team again visited the hospital. The woman, in her statement, claimed that on Tuesday evening, Neeraj had started assaulting her after he returned home… he also allegedly threatened to kill her. It was then that Gulab Singh intervened… But Neeraj allegedly attacked both with a cricket bat and a steel water camper,” a police spokesperson said.
Soon after, Preeti’s brother arrived at the house with the police. “Seeing them, the accused hid inside the house but was apprehended. Preeti and her father-in-law were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Gulab Singh dead,” said an officer.
Based on Preeti’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Sector 5 police station. Neeraj was formally arrested on Wednesday.
