Police have booked a group of men for allegedly chasing and assaulting a 26-year-old man, following a scuffle between the two sides at a club in Gurgaon, said officers on Monday. Bobby Sharma — a resident of Gurgaon's Rajiv Nagar and native of Palwal — said that he had gone to a Sector 29 club to attend a friend's birthday on Saturday. While dancing, he allegedly bumped into someone, which led to a heated altercation. They were then reprimanded by the bouncers and moved out of the club. "Around 1:30 am, I was returning home on my motorcycle, when a white Swift car having a Haryana registration number blocked my path. Five unidentified persons stepped out of the car, one of whom wielded an iron rod, and struck me on the head and limbs. They then kicked and punched me, and I fell on the ground. When I raised an alarm and continued to resist, they even threatened to kill me. They later fled," Sharma mentioned in the complaint. Later, passersby took the victim to MAX Hospital, where he underwent treatment. Based on a complaint filed by Sharma, an FIR has been registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 506 (criminal intimidation) at the DLF sector 29 police station, said police. A senior police officer said that they have identified the vehicle owner and are trying to identify the remaining accused at the earliest. "We are analysing CCTV footage to identify the accused. The victim suffered injuries, and his reports are awaited. Arrests will be made soon," said the officer.
