GRAP Stage 4 curbs lifted in Delhi after rain
The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 369 on Tuesday, in the 'very poor' range.

Curbs in Delhi and NCR under Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) were lifted on Tuesday, after an improvement in the air quality following rain.
The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 369 on Tuesday, in the ‘very poor’ range. More improvement is expected in the coming days as meteorological conditions are set to improve.
The curbs that will be lifted are a ban on all construction activities, entry of non-essential polluting trucks into Delhi, and mandatory shifting of classes – except those for classes 10 and 12 – to hybrid mode and a ban on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles. Curbs under stages I, II and III would remain in force.
Delhi has seen a severely polluted December this year, with six ‘severe air’ quality days so far. Calm winds have helped in the accumulation of pollutants.
On Tuesday, though, light rain in several parts of the city helped improve the condition. Several areas in central, south, and east Delhi, witnessed rainfall towards the evening.
The day temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year. The low was 9.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
