Goons shoot at two brothers,loot Rs 26L

Two brothers,both businessmen,were shot at by motorcycle-borne men who then took away Rs 26 lakh that the two were carrying. The incident was reported on Monday afternoon from Bhajanpura,Northeast Delhi.

Dinesh (32) and Pankaj (39) were on their way to deposit the money to Bank of Baroda when they were attacked,police said.

Dinesh received four bullet injuries,while Pankaj was shot at twice. Both have been admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and their condition is said to be critical. They own a confectionery and stationery business and have an Aircel and Vodafone agency.

The brothers were riding a motorcycle and had the money in two bags,police said.

When the two reached the Bhajanpura traffic signal,they noticed that they were being followed by three men on a Pulsar motorcycle,police said.

“The brothers took a U-turn and decided to head home. They took the service lane while returning home,” said a senior police officer.

According to police,the brother had just crossed a nursing home in B-Block,Yamuna Vihar,when the miscreants,who were at a distance of at least 50 metres,began firing at them.

The two fell on the road and the attackers grabbed the bags and fled towards Gokulpuri area.

A source said the route that the attackers took to escape has a police picket. But there was no police presence in the area at the time of the incident.

Passersby informed police and a resident took the brothers to a nursing home in an auto-rickshaw.

Dinesh has injuries on his neck,stomach,waist and shoulders while Pankaj received two bullet injuries. Investigating officers said the attackers might have fired at least a dozen rounds.

Police have recovered magazines of a pistol and a country-made firearm. A source said attackers’ motorcycle had a UP 12 registration plate.
