(Express Photo)The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a member of the Jitender Gogi gang following a late-night shootout on Friday near Barwala Chowk on Urban Extension Road (UER)-II in Rohini.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police officers intercepted the accused, Vikash alias Saka (32), who was on a stolen motorcycle. Police said the team signalled to him to stop, but Vikash allegedly opened fire at them. The team fired back, injuring him in the right leg.
Officers recovered a .32 bore semi-automatic pistol with three live rounds, a mobile phone with suspicious messages – which are currently being examined – and the motorcycle, which was stolen from Tilak Nagar, from Vikash’s possession.

A resident of Bupania village in Haryana’s Jhajjar, police said, Vikash is currently undergoing treatment, and further investigation is underway to uncover his network and role in the Gogi gang.
Wanted in a kidnapping and murder case registered in Kishangarh Bas in Rajasthan, Vikash faces multiple FIRs in connection with possession of unregistered arms and assault in Haryana, and is currently wanted, along with his cousin, in a murder case.
According to the police, Vikash and his cousin allegedly strangled a fellow villager from Bupania and burned the body in Kishangarh Bans. He is also linked to a missing person case filed in Haryana.
A case has been registered under sections 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 109(1) (attempted murder) of the BNS along with sections under the Arms Act.
