AAP Welfare Schemes, Delhi Elections 2025: As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections draw closer, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is already outlining its strategy, with a strong emphasis on social welfare, economic growth, and infrastructural development. In the lead-up to the elections, AAP has unveiled a range of significant pre-election initiatives aimed at solidifying its popularity and addressing the needs of various sections of Delhi’s population.

Major pre-poll programs introduced by AAP ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections:

1. Free electricity for all households

Building on the success of its previous promises, AAP has pledged to continue providing free electricity to Delhi households. The scheme will offer up to 200 units of electricity for free to all homes, with a 50% subsidy on usage beyond that, benefiting both low-income and middle-class families. This initiative is part of AAP’s broader goal to alleviate the financial strain on families and promote energy conservation.

2. Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana

The party has introduced a scheme aimed at providing financial support to women from families with an annual income of less than ₹3 lakh. Under this program, eligible women will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000, which will be increased to ₹2,100 if AAP is re-elected. Women must be residents of Delhi and registered voters as of December 12, 2024. However, those already benefiting from government social security schemes, such as pensions for senior citizens, widows, and disabled persons, as well as tax-paying women or those employed by the government, will not be eligible for this benefit.

3. Sanjeevani Yojana: Free Healthcare for Senior Citizens

AAP’s new initiative, the Sanjeevani Yojana, promises free healthcare for Delhi residents aged 60 and above. The scheme, which aims to counter allegations that the BJP has neglected the elderly by not implementing the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme, will cover all medical expenses in both government and private hospitals, with no income restrictions. If a necessary procedure cannot be performed at a government facility or has a long wait time, patients will be referred to private hospitals at no cost. Over 12,000 individuals have already benefited from this scheme between 2022 and 2024.

4. Support for auto drivers

AAP has also introduced several benefits for auto rickshaw drivers. The party announced that auto drivers would be provided with life insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh and accident insurance of ₹5 lakh. Additionally, drivers will receive ₹1 lakh for the wedding of each daughter, ₹2,500 twice a year for uniforms (during Holi and Diwali), and coaching fees for competitive exams. The PoochO app, which helps users book registered auto rides, will also be relaunched.

5. Expansion of old-age pensions

In another significant move, AAP has expanded its old-age pension scheme, with an additional 80,000 beneficiaries added to the program. This brings the total number of pension recipients to 5.3 lakh. The government recently launched a new online portal to streamline applications, which has already received 10,000 submissions. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal stated that it was “a sin” to deny pensions to the elderly, accusing the BJP of halting payments during his imprisonment. Since his release, the AAP government has resumed and expanded the pension scheme.

6. Dr Ambedkar Samman Scholarship Yojana

Kejriwal announced the ‘Dr Ambedkar Samman Scholarship Yojana’, promising to cover fees as well as the cost of travel and stay for Dalit students from Delhi who secure admission for higher education at top international universities. After Kejriwal announced the scheme, which aims at extending such benefits to children of Dalits, terming it a “powerful response to BJP’s disrespect toward Babasaheb Ambedkar”, the BJP accused him of having become a “political weather scientist”, alleging that the scheme was nothing but “old wine in a new bottle”.

7. Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that his party would launch a ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana’ if it gets re-elected in Delhi, promising a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000 for Hindu temple priests and granthis of gurdwaras. The announcement comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, with AAP seeking to retain power for a fourth consecutive term. “Pujaris and granthis are an important part of our society, but they are often a neglected section. For the first time in the country, we are introducing a scheme to support them, under which they will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000,” Kejriwal said, adding, registration for the scheme will start tomorrow.
