The toll for the DND Flyway, which connects Delhi and Noida, will be increased by 10 per cent starting November 2. Officials said the increase was part of the annual revision plan. The charges for two-wheeler will become Rs 11,up from the present rate of Rs 10. For cars the toll will be Rs 22,as against the current charge of Rs 20. We got the Noida Authoritys confirmation on the proposed increase today. This is part of an annual revision plan, but this is for the first time in four years that we are hiking the price. The increase has been made according to the Consumer Price Index, said Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson for the DND Flyway. The officials are also gearing up for the problems they expect to face in terms of coins. Earlier, the fares were round figures 10 for motorcycles,20 for cars and so on. With the increase,we will require lots of change in the form of coins. For the purpose we have written to RBI and SBI to give us a sufficient amount of coins to run the operations smoothly, Abbasi said. The move is aimed at reducing transaction time at toll booths. We could have written to other banks as well, but since the new prices come into effect soon, and several bank holidays are approaching,we thought it is safer to approach the RBI directly. If we have sufficient coins, the queues can be cut down, Abbasi said.
