Fix schedule to shift bus depot: HC

The government had asked for 18 months to shift the depot, which was opposed by the petitioner’s counsel Jayant Bhushan.

A day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Millennium Bus Depot, built at a cost of Rs 60 crore during the Commonwealth Games, would be shifted, the Delhi High Court directed the government to “make every effort” to set out a “reasonable schedule” to vacate the site.

During the hearing before the court of Justice Sudershan Kumar Misra, Additional Solicitor General Gaurab Banerjee said a “decision in principle” to shift the site had been taken. The government had asked for 18 months to shift the depot, which was opposed by the petitioner’s counsel Jayant Bhushan. “Up to 1,000 buses are parked in the deport, plus there are other structures, we need time to identify the suitable alternate sites and develop the infrastructure there” government standing counsel Sumeet Pushkarna, said.
