Five persons, including three directors of the Indian Institute of Psychometry (IIP), have been arrested in connection with the 2021 ITBP constable recruitment paper leak case, police said on Thursday. IIP was one of the centres where the exam papers were printed.
Police identified the three directors as Amitav Roy, Subhendu Kumar Paul and Jaydeep Goswami.
“A complaint was filed by Kushal Kumar, Commandant, Recruitment, ITBP, New Delhi… He alleged that IIP, located… in Kolkata, was awarded a contract through tenders to conduct the written test for the post of constable,” the officer said. It was responsible for setting and printing of question papers, designing and printing of perforated OMR answer sheets, conducting written examination, scanning of OMR sheets, along with securing, packing and transporting question papers and answer sheets. “All this was to be done while maintaining a high level of confidentiality,” DCP (Crime) Vikram Singh said.
The exam was conducted on January 10, 2021 across 13 cities. However, the question paper had already surfaced on WhatsApp in PDF formats, police said. “An internal inquiry by ITBP found that the question paper had been circulated among candidates before the exam began,” DCP Singh said.
