Hours after two alleged members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang were gunned down on Wednesday evening in Ghaziabad’s Tronica City by a joint police team from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi, the gang shared a purported post on social media claiming that the encounter has come as a “big setback” to the gang.

The deceased, Ravindra (24) and Arun (27), were allegedly involved in a shooting outside the residence of actor Disha Patani in Bareilly in the early hours of September 12.

The post uploaded from a social media account ‘Rohit Godara’ also stated that they will not spare anyone.

The Delhi Police on Thursday said they are checking the authenticity of the post.

Earlier, in a video that had surfaced on social media, fugitive gangsters Brar and Godara had claimed responsibility for the September 12 shooting incident. They said that the firing was retaliation for an alleged insult directed at spiritual gurus Premanand Maharaj and Anirudh Acharya Maharaj by Disha’s sister Khushboo.

Both Godara and Brar are believed to be former members of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. While recent reports indicate that the two have cut ties from Bishnoi, some police officers said that there has been no split, and both Godara and Brar continue to operate from overseas.

Meanwhile, two other associates of the alleged shooters, who conducted a recce of Patani’s house a day prior to the firing incident, are absconding, an officer from the UP Police said.

“The two individuals have been identified, and teams are working to apprehend them. They are not from Haryana,” the officer added.

Police said the two men were identified with the help of CCTV camera footage recovered from near Patani’s residence. “The two had visited the location a day earlier and left immediately,” the officer said.

“It is suspected that they fired a shot in the air before leaving that day. Neighbours have reported hearing the sound of a gunshot,” he added.
