FIR filed in Rajya Sabha TV producer death

According to her family’s statement was found in the basement parking of her building on Monday night.

Two days after the body of a Rajya Sabha TV producer Milita Dutt Mandal was found in the basement of her apartment in Vaishali, Ghaziabad, an FIR was registered on Wednesday against unknown persons under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

“None of the family members came forward to file an FIR and no statement has been taken from any of them. So the chowki in-charge of the building registered the FIR,” a police officer said.

According to police, a post mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi. “The autopsy was conducted by a three-member medical board. She has sustained a skull injury in addition to facial and nose injuries. She has also sustained spinal fractures. There is coagulated blood in the brain… The report is expected in the next ten days,” a senior doctor at the hospital said.
According to her family’s statement, Mandal, who was in her mid- thirties, was found in the basement parking of her building on Monday night and was immediately rushed to Max hospital in Delhi but was declared brought dead, police said.

According to police, while the family claimed that the body was found around 11.30 pm on Monday, police was only informed between 2.30 am and 3 am on Tuesday.

Mandal is survived by a husband, who works with the British Council, and two-year-old daughter Sreesha.
