Retired teacher Neelum Kumari, 59, can’t hide her excitement. “I was living with a lot of anxiety all these years. Now, I can live in my home in peace,” said Kumari as she held the registration documents of the flat she bought in 2019.
Kumari is one of the 10 buyers who were handed over the certificates at a camp at Express Zenith society in sector-77, Noida.
Two months after the implementation of Amitabh Kant relief package, the registration of flats has finally begun in the Noida Authority area.
Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Manoj Kumar said most of the builders will take up the scheme and the government will not have to take “extreme action”.
He said, “During this builder-buyer issue, we met a number of people who have been waiting for the registration of flats for around two decades. Many elderly people expressed the desire to see the registry before their death. The government was adamant to resolve the issue.”
Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M was also present on the occasion.
M/s Express Builders & Promoters Pvt. Ltd, the developer of Express Zenith, had total outstanding dues of Rs 44.27 crore of which it has paid 25% as per the relief package.
Pankaj Goel, one of the directors of the company, said that around 100 flats will be registered on priority basis.
Another buyer, IT executive Manoj Verma, said, “I am happy that now I can say that I have a home ‘legally’.”
