3 of a family killed, 4 injured after car rams into stationary dumper in Delhi’s Kapashera

The police said the accident occurred at the exit point of the Mahipalpur Tunnel. “A dumper broke down and was standing on the roadside without any signboard or reflector. A WagonR car driven by Rohit Rajput, 22, collided with the stationary dumper,” a police officer said.
The police said Rajput was ferrying seven people of the same family from Goga Meri Mandir in Rajasthan to their home in the Roshannagar area of Faridabad in his taxi. Pramod, his wife Brij Rani, their sons Devendra and Vimal, Devendra’s wife Neetu, and their son Ayansh, went to Rajasthan on August 23 for a religious visit, and had hired Rajput’s taxi.
“They were coming back on August 25 when the car collided at night with a dumper parked at the exit of the tunnel. Brij Rani, 46, and Vimal, 23, were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital, where both were declared dead. Ayansh, 4, was rushed to Safdurjung Hospital and also succumbed to his injuries,” the police officer said.
Ayansh’s parents, Neetu, 28, and Devendra, 30, along with Pramod, 55, and Rajput suffered minor injuries, and have been discharged.
“A case under sections 285, 125(a), 106(1) of the BNS [Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita] was registered at the Kapashera Police Station, and the dumper was seized. The dumper driver Vipin Kashyap, 31, a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri, UP, was arrested on August 26,” the officer said.
