A body of a 25-year-old cook stuffed inside a bed box with his feet and neck tied with a plastic rope was found at a three-storey house in Southeast Delhi's Jangpura late on Monday. Police said the murder was fallout of a foiled robbery bid by a disgruntled former staff of the owner of the house. The Delhi Police Crime Branch held two accused in the case – Aman Tiwari, 20, a resident of Bawana, and Jirjis Kazmi, 19, a resident of Meerut. Police said that they received a PCR call around 10 PM Monday from a house in Jangpura where the caller stated that a man who used to work at his house was killed by a few unidentified assailants who tied his hands and legs and strangled him with a plastic rope. DCP (Southeast) Rajesh Deo said that the body of a man was found inside a bed box. The deceased was identified as Kamal, 25, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. According to officers, on Monday at around 9 PM, Deepak, another domestic worker, saw two unidentified men standing on the staircase leading towards the fourth floor of the house and when questioned by him, they said that they had come to check water supply in the building. A senior police officer said Kamal had joined as a cook at the house of Advocate General of Meghalaya Amit Kumar three years back. The house has a ground and three other floors, including a terrace which has a room. Officers said that while the ground and the first floor was owned by another person, the second and the third floor were owned by Kumar. Construction activity was ongoing on the ground and the first floor. Said police, "They overpowered and tied Deepak on the third floor and asked for code of the electronic safe..using a kitchen knife, they stabbed Deepak when he refused to give out the key to the safe.alarmed by the noise, Kumar's son Aditya came from the second to the third floor and the two unknown men fled the spot.” Police said it was initially doubted that Kamal was an accomplice since he was missing from the time of the stabbing. “Later, they found his body in the servant room-cum-store room inside the bed trunk.," said the DCP. Special CP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said that Kazmi was previously employed in the office of Kumar. “He was removed around a month ago and felt humiliated so he wanted to take revenge as well as loot the money kept in the house.first they brutally strangulated and murdered the servant Kamal with an iron press cable and dumped his body inside the bed. Then, they attacked Deepak. they tried to break open the locker with bricks.Kazmi was held from a bus stand in the city and Aman from his hideout in Bawana," said Yadav. A senior police officer said, "The accused entered through the front door which mostly used to stay open due to workers entering and leaving the premises.while Kumar had gone to Hyderabad with his wife and daughter, his 23-year-old son, cook Kamal, his 84-year-old bed-ridden father and his caregiver Paswan and office boy Deepak were inside the house. While his father used to live at the room on the terrace, his son was on the second floor with Paswan where the family used to live, and Kamal used to stay in the servant room near the lift.” Kumar told The Indian Express, “Kamal never had enmity with anyone and had been our obedient employee.I had removed Kazmi from service on May 15 as he was unable to perform his work.he used to come back and plead with my wife to take him back but we refused.” Kamal’s cousin Pankaj said, “Kamal used to call us frequently and tell us that he used to like cooking as a passion more than a compulsion.he came to Delhi around seven to six years ago and only got married a month ago. his wife does not know anything about the incident yet.”
