A 28-year-old former bank employee was arrested for allegedly duping at least 20 people,including a senior resident doctor of All India Institute of Medical Sciences,by allegedly withdrawing money from their accounts using their signatures obtained fraudulently. The accused,the police said,approached people on the pretext of providing them loans from banks for a very low rate. Dilip Kumar,a resident of Bihar's West Champaran,would then obtain their signatures using a magic pen. A magic pen,two pen drives,10 photographs,two mobile phones,eight appointment letters,six debit cards and two petro cards were recovered from him. Kumar was apprehended from Sarojini Nagar following investigations into a complaint filed by one Santosh Kumar Singh. A person claiming to be Rahul Singh from a nationalised bank approached Singh and offered housing loan at the lowest rate of interest. Rahul asked for a copy of his PAN Card,identity card,bank statement and a crossed cheque and guaranteed the loan. The next day,another executive came to Singh's residence who introduced himself to be Sanjay and requested him to fill several documents including a crossed cheque with the pen offered by him. Singh handed over the documents. The next day,he came to know that Rs 45,000 has been withdrawn through cheque from his account, a police officer said. Kumar along with his associates Rajan Jaiswal and Arun Tiwari allegedly conspired to cheat people. He had worked with many financial institutions and had good knowledge of banking transactions.
