Elders in Gurgaon can now start applying for old age honour allowance

The district administration started the process of accepting applications for ‘old age honour allowance’ from Tuesday,till November 30 this year.

Deputy Commissioner P C Meena said many have attained the age of 60,since the last government survey.

The state government has invited applications from new eligible beneficiaries for their inclusion into the new list.

Officials said in rural areas,the forms will be available from the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) and in urban areas,the form can be collected from the office of Municipal Corporation or Municipal Committee and submitted it there after filling. One can also apply online,officials added.

Meena said the applicant should be a resident of the state and the annual income of the applicant and his or her spouse should not exceed Rs 50,000. He said the persons getting pension from the government or any other organization or body constituted under the constitution were not eligible for the old age allowance.

The applicant has to attach a copy of a birth certificate or driving license or passport or certificate from school in support of his or her age. A copy of domicile,ration card or voter’s photo I-card should also be attached,officials added.

The persons not having the documents regarding proof of age,should get their age verified from a committee of two doctors by visiting the nearest Community Health Center. The BDPOs and Executive Officers of Municipal Corporation or Committee will check that all the forms were filled in correctly before sending the list to the office of District Social Welfare Officer,Meena added.
