A Punjab-based businessman, who was in the Capital to look for a doctor to treat his wife, was killed in Kalyanpuri on Sunday allegedly by four youth who were drunk. Father of three,Satpal (35) was stabbed by one of the youth when he allegedly intervened in their argument.

His family said Satpal, who was staying at his in-laws’ house in Pocket 17,Kalyanpuri,was leaving for Nandnagri when he realised that the group was blocking his way. He asked them to move aside so that he could drive away, but the intervention irked the accused, one of whom stabbed Satpal, the family alleged.

According to the family, the police did not take “them seriously” and told them to leave when they went to file a complaint.

Satpal is survived by his wife Poonam (27) and three children, eldest of whom is four years old. “How will they survive? I have no money to take care of them” said Poonam.

Satpal ran an eatery in Adampur,Punjab, and had come to Delhi three days ago. This was his third visit to the Capital in connection with his wife’s treatment for appendicitis.

“Pintu (Satpal) wanted a good doctor to treat his wife. I wish he hadn’t come to the city,” said his father-in-law Vikram.

According to the police, the incident happened around 7.30 pm when Satpal left his in-laws’ house saying he would be back in an hour. “He kept his bag (inside his Indica car) and had just sat in when four men,who were drunk, approached the car,” said G S Chawla,an eyewitness.
