Don’t just aim for MNC gig, contribute to country’s growth: L-G Saxena to DTU grads
“Year after year, this university has been keeping the flame of academic excellence alive with relentless efforts and hard work,” the L-G, who is also the Chancellor, said.

Addressing the 10th convocation of Delhi Technology University (DTU), L-G V K Saxena said the varsity has been committed to quality education and has a legacy of producing great engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
“Year after year, this university has been keeping the flame of academic excellence alive with relentless efforts and hard work,” the L-G, who is also the Chancellor, said.
Saxena presided over the event along with DRDO Director General Suma Varughese and Education Minister Atishi.
“It is heartening that over the years, DTU has become an eminent institution in the domains of academia and research… However… there is always scope for improvement. To my mind, the goal should be reaching the top and any ranking achieved would be considered worthwhile only if you were to become a hub that creates intellectual capital that adds to the nation’s knowledge resources,” he said.
Adding to the university’s achievements, he said it “has exhibited an unparalleled placement record over the last many years”. He said in the 2022-23 session, 335 companies visited the campus and offered 2,116 jobs to students, which included 12 international offers. “The highest domestic package offered at DTU was 82.5 lakh per annum,” he said
Saxena Thursday wrote on X that “6,320 students were awarded UG, PG &PhD degrees” by the varsity.
While addressing students, Atishi said, “It is important for everyone to make decisions independently” so as to have responsibility for one’s own decisions. “Today, as you are graduating, your achievements should not be limited to yourself. You must think about how you can make the country number one and a better place by working hard in your career,” Atishi added.
Saxena also encouraged students to not just aim for a career in a multinational company but be contributors to the country’s growth.
Earlier in the day, Atishi inaugurated two new state-of-the-art academic blocks at DTU. The new blocks are each eight-storeyed and equipped with “world-class modern facilities”, Atishi said. These academic blocks will serve as an example where students will have all the necessary amenities to help shape their careers, she added.
