Angered by the construction of multi-storey apartments in Greater Kailash-II by realty major DLF,the residents of the area met Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday, alleging that the complex is unauthorised as per the land-use agreement in the area.

The residents cited a nexus between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),which passed the complex project, and DLF and claimed there are irregularities in sanctioning the layout plan of the apartment complex.

According to the residents and Congress, the opposition in MCD,DLF is constructing the flats in open plots meant for parks, community halls and other public facilities.

After the 14-member delegation, comprising RWAs of Greater Kailash-II,Greater Kailash-II Enclave,Masjid Moth and Alaknanda, met Dikshit, she directed the commissioner of MCD to investigate how the land-use was changed for the concerned plot.

MCD officials, however, denied any irregularity. Defending the construction,MCD officials said during the Standing Committee meeting that a resolution for allowing the construction was passed by the Committee in 1989. Some residents had even moved the Supreme Court on the issue at the time, but the court had ruled in favour of the MCD,they said.

The layout plan was sanctioned around two years ago.

Leader of opposition in MCD,J K Sharma, meanwhile, alleged that the earlier layout “plan was changed and a new one with several irregularities sanctioned”.

Chairman of Standing Committee R K Singhal has now instructed the commissioner to look into the issue and submit a report within the next three days.
