Four persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in human trafficking after they recently kidnapped and molested a physically challenged girl after forcing her to consume alcohol. According to the South District police,the gang which has,till now,brought 30 financially backward women from Jharkhand,Bihar,Eastern Uttar Pradesh,Orissa and West Bengal on the pretext of finding them suitable jobs in the Capital would exploit them sexually before selling them. The accused have been identified as Saleem (32),Pinku (24),Sumeer (38) and Sanjit (28),all residents of Jharkhand. On February 2,the police were informed of a woman being abducted and taken in a Maruti van from HDFC bank in Defence Colony. Following this,the police rushed to the spot and found the 20-year-old girl. In her statement to the police,she said that Jai Ram,a resident of Jharkhand,had brought her to the city. He claimed that her elder sister,who was earlier brought to the city to work as a domestic help,was unwell and required her assistance. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said,Jai Ram requested her parents to send the girl along,so she could be with her ailing elder sister. She came here on January 26. Police said when she arrived,Jai Ram sold her to four persons Rajkumar,Muniya,Saleem and Pinku for Rs 10,000,as she was handicapped. On the pretext of taking her to meet her sister,they brought her to a room in Nathupura,Gurgaon,where she was put up for sale. However,as they couldnt find a suitable buyer because of her handicap,they allegedly forced her to consume alcohol and sexually exploited her for three days. Finally,the girl managed to escape when she jumped out the van near the bank and shouted at passersby for help. Police said the gang used to sell women to pimps. Saleem and Pinku were arrested from Gurgaon on February 5,following which the elder sister was rescued from the clutches of Sanjit and Sameer in Shakarpur.
