A 22-year-old differently abled woman was kidnapped and then murdered, allegedly by an acquaintance, in Southeast Delhi on Sunday. Police said they have identified the accused, who is yet to be arrested. The exact motive of the crime is yet to be established. According to police, a PCR call was received around 1 am at two police stations. The caller stated that a woman had been kidnapped. Upon enquiry, it was found that a woman was kidnapped from her residence while sleeping on the terrace of her house with her parents. Meanwhile, a body was found in the same lane, in an abandoned jhuggi, which was identified as that of the woman who was kidnapped. After visiting the spot, scanning the surrounding area and adjoining streets, and with the help of other residents of the victim’s house, police established the identity of the accused. “Following an inspection by the crime team, the body was sent to AIIMS Hospital. Prima facie, offences of murder and kidnapping have been made out. The post-mortem was conducted, and the probable cause of death is asphyxia due to strangulation. The final post-mortem report is awaited. Teams have been formed to nab the accused,” said DCP (Southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh.
