When 25-year-old Aishwarya Kumar Gaur, an employee of a logistics company in Delhi, heard about the demonetisation move, he supported the idea. He waited for six days until his cash ran out, and then went to withdraw money from an ATM near his home in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area. Watch What Else is Making News On November 14, as he and his brother waited in queue at 11 pm, they got into an argument with someone, and Gaur was hit with a brick on the head. He later received eight stitches. Gaur said he waited in queue for about two hours, and when his turn to withdraw the money came, an argument broke out with another man in the line. “People in the queue decided that each person can use a maximum of two cards. But when I went inside, a person came and told me not to use two cards. He called in four people, who dragged me outside and started beating me. I was hit on the head with a brick and started bleeding,” said Gaur, who could not withdraw the cash. His brother Yash said, “One of the accused threw a brick at my brother, but he missed. He threw it again and it hit my brother’s head.” He said the police arrived in 20 minutes and took the accused away. A case has been registered at Shakarpur police station under various IPC sections. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.
