A woman and her 16-year-old daughter were found dead in their home in Delhi Saturday morning, following a violent altercation. The incident came to light when a PCR call was received at 9.05 AM, reporting a quarrel.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered the bodies of the woman, aged 38, and her daughter lying unconscious in a room on the ground floor. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, said police. Initial investigations revealed that her husband is the primary suspect.
According to police sources, the husband was allegedly having an extra-marital affair. When the husband came to visit his wife and daughter early in the morning, a heated argument ensued between the trio, which escalated when he allegedly struck his wife and daughter with an iron pan (tawa) before fleeing the scene.
Further investigation revealed a history of conflict within the family. The daughter had filed a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 354 (criminal force against a woman), 354B (criminal force on a woman with the intention of disrobing her) and the POCSO Act against her father in March, which is currently at the trial stage.
“The husband had come to his wife and his daughter to ask them to withdraw the POCSO case against him,” said DCP Outer North, RK Singh. “District Crime team and the forensics team were called on the spot for examining the scene. Multiple teams have been formed and efforts are being made to arrest the husband,” he added.
A case under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 3(5) (common intent) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) has been registered.
