Delhi weather today: After a day of continuous rainfall across Delhi and parts of NCR, the national capital woke up to light fog and a significant temperature dip. The air quality of Delhi also saw a significant improvement, with the AQI as low as 50 in parts of the national capital. After continuous rainfall on Tuesday, the AQI in Delhi dipped from 74 to 53 in most areas. Delhi on Wednesday morning recorded a minimum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature expected to go up to 26 degrees Celsius. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that rain will take a halt in the capital today, it is likely that Delhi will witness a temperature dip on Wednesday. This comes a day after IMD issues an orange alert in Delhi and adjoining cities, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds throughout the day. Dense dark cloud blanketed the national capital on Tuesday as early October rain brought down the mercury by several notches after a hot weekend. The incessant downpour in the capital further led to reduced visibility and traffic logjams across busy routes. “There is a huge traffic jam on the Dwarka Expressway from Bamnoli and Chhawla. Kindly take immediate action,” a netizen wrote while tagging the Delhi Traffic Police. Meanwhile, reduced visibility near the airport led to delay and cancellation of multiple flights on Tuesday. At Palam Airport, visibility fell from 6,000 metres at 1.30 pm to 1,200 metres by 5 pm, according to the IMD. Many parts of the city appeared gloomy during the day as rain continued to lash the city, brought on by the impact of a western disturbance. The IMD has forecasted cloudy skies on Wednesday and placed the city under the green zone, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected around 31 degree celsius and 20 degree celsius, respectively.
