Delhi News Live Updates: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Monday extended greetings on Rajasthan Diwas and the Gangaur Festival. She assured Rajasthani families in the national capital of the Delhi government’s commitment to their welfare. Addressing an event, Gupta said, “I assure them that the CM of Delhi and Delhi Government are always by them and will always work for their welfare, comfort and prosperity.”

In other news, A massive fire broke out in Noida, engulfing at least four factories including textile, furniture and a cooler manufacturing company. Chief fire officer (CFO), Pradeep Kumar, said 175 fire fighters and 35 firefighting vehicles reached the spot. Vehicles from Ghaziabad, Hapur and Bulandshahar also arrived.

Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrations: As a large number of people gather to offer namaz on Eid Al-fitr at Makki Jama Masjid, Inderlok, DCP North Raja Banthia said, “A very elaborate security arrangements have been made in North district. Officers, including paramilitary forces, have been deployed. Our social media monitoring team is doing sentiment analysis.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings to people on the occasion expressing hope that the festival would strengthen the spirit of hope, harmony, and kindness in society.

Delhi News Live Updates: Two-year-old girl mowed down by teenage neighbour under car in Paharganj

A two-year-old girl was crushed to death by a car driven by her neighbour's teenage son in central Delhi's Paharganj area, turning Eid celebrations into tragedy for her family, an official said on Monday.

The vehicle owned by the neighbour, Pankaj Agarwal, and his son was driving it at the time of the accident. Both have been apprehended, police said.

According to police, Agarwal owns a plywood shop while the girl's father is a bag manufacturer.

According to officials, a CCTV footage showed the car approaching slowly before coming to a halt. Moments later, it moved forward, crushing the child under the left front wheel.

Locals rushed to rescue the girl and took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead, a police officer said.--PTI

Delhi News Live Updates: 'No fuel for overage vehicles' policy may face delay, says minister

The Delhi government's decision to deny fuel to overage vehicles at refill stations across the capital starting 1st April may be delayed, as the required devices have not yet been installed at all locations, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said.

The minister told PTI that the government is expediting the process to ensure a smooth transition, and a meeting will be held tonight to decide how much work remains and when the implementation will take place.--PTI

Pankaj, 32, owner of a juice shop, next to the factory in Noida that caught fire, said, "Most of the workers working in the factories are Muslims. The factory was closed today because of Eid."

Delhi News Live Updates: Court allows de-sealing of 3 floors in RAU's IAS study circle drowning case

The Rouse Court has recently allowed the de-sealing of three floors of the building in the basement of which the drowning incident occurred and three UPSC aspirants of RAU's IAS Study circle drowned in July 2024.

Principal District and Sessions Judge (PDSJ) Anju Bajaj Chandna allowed the petitions filed by Gurpreet Singh (Owner of second floor) and Rishi Khanna (owner of ground and first floor).

"I do not find any legal provision which allows the CBI to take control of the property indefinitely, particularly when the same is not involved in the crime in question," PDSJ Anju Bajaj Chandna said in the order passed on March 26. --ANI

In a joint operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police seized narcotics worth Rs 27.4 crore and arrested five persons, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on X on Monday.

The narcotics included methamphetamine, MDMA and cocaine.

"In line with the Modi government's zero tolerance against drugs, a major narco-network was busted in Delhi-NCR. The NCB and Delhi Police grabbed the gang by its throat and recovered methamphetamine, MDMA and cocaine worth Rs 27.4 crore and arrested five people," Shah wrote on X.

Delhi News Live Updates: Delhi records minimum temp of 13.8 deg C

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 13.8 degrees Celsius, 4.3 notches below the season's average, on Monday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The humidity level stood at 42 per cent at 8.30 am.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature for the day is expected to settle around 33 degrees Celsius.

Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 135, in the 'moderate' category, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

Delhi News Live Updates: Devotees offer prayers at Delhi's Jama Masjid on Eid amid tight security

A sea of devotees, including children and the elderly, offered prayers at the iconic Jama Masjid here on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday amid tight security.

To ensure smooth conduct of the festival, four police teams, along with paramilitary forces and senior officials, were deployed at Jama Masjid, said an officer who was present at the 17th-century grand mosque.

"We have made elaborate security arrangements for Eid. Preparations had been underway for several days and local residents also cooperated with us, which helped ensure that the morning prayers went smoothly," the officer said.

Additionally, a police social media monitoring team has been keeping a close watch on online activities of prominent figures, he said.

"Our team is conducting a sentiment analysis of key leaders' social media posts to assess their thoughts and emotions," he added.

Delhi News Live Updates: Two minor siblings killed as fire breaks out in house due to LPG leakage

Two minor siblings were killed in a fire that broke out in West Delhi’s Manohar Park, the Delhi Fire Services said on Monday.

The incident took place around 8:20 PM on Sunday, after which two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was caused by a gas leak from an LPG cylinder at their home, WZ-7, Manohar Park.

Three people were injured in the blaze and were taken to Acharya Bhikshu Hospital by the PCR team. Among them, 12-year-old Sakshi and her 9-year-old brother Aakash succumbed to their injuries during treatment, while Sandeep Pathak, who sustained 5% burns, is undergoing treatment.

Delhi News Live Updates: Girl killed after being hit by neighbour's car in central Delhi

A two-year-old girl died after being hit by a car driven by her neighbour in central Delhi's Paharganj area, an official said on Monday.

The incident took place around 6.15 pm on Sunday at Ram Nagar in Paharganj, he said.

Police received information that a child was injured in a road accident and admitted to a hospital, where she succumbed to injuries.

During the inquiry, it was found that the vehicle involved belongs to a neighbour of the victim's family, and his son was driving at the time of the accident, a senior police officer said.

A case has been registered under sections 281 (rash and negligent driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway, he added.
