Delhi Air Pollution Live Updates, Delhi Air Quality: As a thick blanket of smog continued to engulf Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) sub-committee has decided to implement Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi-NCR that will come into effect from 8 a.m. of November 18  owing to ‘severe’ air quality conditions. The Delhi government had already imposed GRAP Stage III restrictions on November 14  to curb pollution with junior classes going online. Inter-state buses, besides EVs/CNG/BS-VI, private BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles have been banned in the Capital. Stage IV restrictions include halting construction and demolition activities that generate dust. Additionally, the government can choose to impose Odd-Even restrictions.

The national capital woke up to fog-filled morning as the average air quality index of Delhi stood at 428 early Sunday. According to Central Pollution Control Board data, Bawana recorded the worst air quality with the AQI at 471, followed by Ashok Vihar and Jahangirpuri at 466. As of 7 am, the visibility at Palam airport was at 900 metres.

Further, in a bid to protect elderly, old age homes have ramped up their measures which include strict restrictions on outdoor activities during peak pollution hours, mandatory mask use and provision of oxygen cylinders in case of emergencies.

-Construction and demolition activities that are related to the railways, metro rail services, airports, hospitals, defence, etc. may be permitted.

-LCVS registered outside Delhi are allowed if they are EVs / CNG / BS-VI diesel operated. All LNG/ CNG / Electric/ BS-VI diesel trucks are however permitted to enter Delhi. Other trucks may be permitted for emergency purposes.

-Similarly, BS-IV and below diesel-operated MGVs and HGVs in Delhi are allowed if carrying essential commodities or providing essential services.

Second accused in Gogi gang member’s murder arrested: Delhi Police

The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested the second accused in the murder of Amit Lakra, a member of the Gogi gang and the right-hand man of leader Ankesh Lakra. Tushar, 20, aka Kali, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday from Sonipat, the police said.

According to the police, information was received that a stolen Black Pulsar bike on which accused Nihaal and Tushar were riding when they shot down Lakra in Mundka on November 9 was hidden near Rasoi Dhaba in the Kundli area of Sonipat.

“A tip-off was received that Tushar was going to come at around 5 am on November 16 to take the bike,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Kumar Sain.

Delhi Police arrest arms supplier linked to Jahangirpuri violence

The Delhi Police Crime Branch’s Anti Extortion and Kidnapping Cell (AEKC) has arrested a key member of an inter-state arms smuggling network who allegedly supplied firearms in a huge quantity at the time of the Jahangirpuri violence.

The accused, identified as Zulfikar Ali, was apprehended in connection with multiple cases of illegal firearms supply to notorious gangsters in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

On November 5, a team of the Crime Branch led by Inspector Priyanka under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sushil Kumar arrested one Salman aka Lala with an illegal firearm on a tip-off while he came to meet an associate in Sarai Kale Khan to commit a criminal act in a CNG station of the nearby area.

In a bid to protect elderly, old age homes have ramped up their measures which include strict restrictions on outdoor activities during peak pollution hours, mandatory mask use and provision of oxygen cylinders in case of emergencies.

General Bhupendra Singh, Chairman of Aashirwad Old Age Home told PTI, “We do not allow anyone to step outside the premises due to the toxic air quality. The elderly, being the worst affected group, are strictly prohibited from venturing out during peak pollution hours, especially in the morning and evening.” “If they must go out for medical appointments, they are instructed to minimise outdoor time and wear masks for protection,” he added.

Delhi Air Pollution Live Updates: Employee injured in firing at petrol pump in Gokulpuri

An employee at a petrol pump was injured in a firing incident in northeast Delhi's Gokulpuri area, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday night when four men came on two motorcycles and one of them opened fire at the petrol pump's office area.

The shooter was also caught in the CCTV camera installed at the petrol pump.

Ansul Rathi, who works as a supervisor, was injured due to glass shrapnel inflicted in his abdomen, a senior police officer said.

He was taken to the GTB hospital where his condition is out of danger.

"Initial inquiry revealed that four persons on two bikes came at the petrol pump and one of the pillion rider fired 16 rounds at office cabin from outside and then one bike fled towards Gokulpuri and other towards Loni Gol chakkar," the officer said.

It is suspected that the firing took place following pump owner Harish Chaudhary's previous enmity with some persons, the officer said, adding further probe is underway.

Delhi Air Pollution Live Updates: Shadipur, Narela hit worst as Delhi's air quality remains severe

The average air quality index of Delhi stood at 406 at 7 am. The most polluted place was Shadipur (454), followed by Narela (444). Delhi to have 106 additional buses, 60 extra trips by metro trains to combat air pollution

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Friday said an additional 106 cluster buses would ply in the city while metro

trains would make 60 extra trips in view of GRAP-3 measures imposed due to worsening air quality.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has imposed GRAP 3 measures as the national capital recorded the worst pollution levels in the country, with the air quality remaining in the "severe" category for two consecutive days.

On Friday the city's air quality was in the severe category with an AQI of 411 at 9 am.

Delhi Environment Minister, addressing a press conference said that the Air Quality Index (AQI), which has consistently crossed hazardous levels, led to the enforcement of GRAP-3.

As Capital reels under smog blanket govt bans entry of inter-state buses

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai announced stringent measures on Friday to tackle the capital’s deteriorating air quality under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) III. The entry of inter-state buses, except for e-buses and those running on CNG, has been banned to curb vehicular pollution, a key contributor to high PM 2.5 levels.

Additionally, BS III petrol and BS IV diesel four-wheelers are now prohibited within city limits. To address construction-related dust, private construction and demolition activities have also been suspended. To mitigate commuting challenges, 106 shuttle buses will be deployed, and metro services will operate 60 additional trips daily.

Delhi chokes as AQI slips to ‘severe’, Class 1-5 go online, construction halted as GRAP III kicks in

The National Capital woke up to a thick blanket of smog, with air quality reaching ‘severe’ levels in various parts of the city on Friday morning. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board as of 6 AM, areas such as Anand Vihar (441), Dwarka (444), Mundka (449), RK Puram (437), and Indira Gandhi International Airport (446) all reported by Central Pollution Control Board at 6 am.

To combat the escalating air pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR. As part of GRAP Stage III, emergency response measures such as discontinuing physical classes for primary school students in entire Delhi-NCR, and curbing construction have been put in place.
