(Express Photo by Praveen Khanna)Delhi Air Pollution Live Updates, Delhi Air Quality: As a thick blanket of smog continued to engulf Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) sub-committee has decided to implement Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi-NCR that will come into effect from 8 a.m. of November 18 owing to ‘severe’ air quality conditions. The Delhi government had already imposed GRAP Stage III restrictions on November 14 to curb pollution with junior classes going online. Inter-state buses, besides EVs/CNG/BS-VI, private BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles have been banned in the Capital. Stage IV restrictions include halting construction and demolition activities that generate dust. Additionally, the government can choose to impose Odd-Even restrictions.
The national capital woke up to fog-filled morning as the average air quality index of Delhi stood at 428 early Sunday. According to Central Pollution Control Board data, Bawana recorded the worst air quality with the AQI at 471, followed by Ashok Vihar and Jahangirpuri at 466. As of 7 am, the visibility at Palam airport was at 900 metres.

Further, in a bid to protect elderly, old age homes have ramped up their measures which include strict restrictions on outdoor activities during peak pollution hours, mandatory mask use and provision of oxygen cylinders in case of emergencies.
