Delhi: Man robs employer of Rs 4.5 lakh in Dwarka after he is refused an advance on salary, arrested
During questioning, Jahangir allegedly admitted that he planned the heist to "teach his employer a lesson" for refusing to pay him an advance on his salary despite repeated request

Denied an advance on his salary, a 22-year-old man allegedly robbed his employer of Rs 4.5 lakh at Najafgarh in Dwarka on the intervening night of August 19 and 20. The accused, Mumtaz Jahangir, who worked at a godown as a loader, was arrested on Tuesday, police said.
The owner of the godown, Mukul Jain, approached the Najafgarh police station on August 20 after he realised that Rs 4.5 lakh in cash was missing from his office.
While examining the CCTV camera footage of the godown, police said they noticed a man entering the premises with his face covered by a plastic sack. He allegedly disabled the cameras before entering the godown through the building’s false ceiling. Also, the godown’s guard dogs did not bark at him or attack him, leading the police to suspect the involvement of an insider in the theft, officers said.
“The police team questioned the employees who knew about the cash… Call detail records revealed that the location of one of the employees, Mumtaz Jahangir, matched the crime scene on the night of the burglary,” said Dwarka DCP Ankit Singh.
Following this, Jahangir, who stays at Dharampura in Najafgarh with his wife and three children, was arrested and Rs 3.14 lakh of the stolen cash recovered from him, said police.
During questioning, Jahangir allegedly admitted that he planned the heist to “teach his employer a lesson” for refusing to pay him an advance on his salary despite repeated requests. Jahangir’s associate Vikas, who helped him carry out the burglary, remains at large, police said.
Police said Jahangir hails from Supore in Bihar and had moved to Delhi in June. He was working in the godown as a loader for a monthly salary of Rs 15,000.
