Taking cognisance of a report by The Indian Express, the Delhi High Court Monday directed the chief secretary and health department secretary of the Delhi government to take immediate action and repair non-functional CT scan machines at Lok Nayak Hospital at the earliest.
The report, published on October 27, highlighted that two out of three CT scan machines were non-functional at the government hospital and patients were forced to travel as far as 7 km to its trauma centre or to the GB Pant Hospital for their scan requirements.
The repairs have been pending after the company responsible expressed its inability to carry them out till prior payment pending with the Central Procurement Agency is cleared.
On Monday, amicus curiae Ashok Agarwal, in a 2017 suo motu plea initiated over the alleged lack of ICU beds and ventilators in government hospitals, brought the issue to the attention of the division bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.
