The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice in a defamation suit filed against journalist Rajdeep Sardesai by BJP national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi. The BJP leader is seeking an injunction against posting and circulating a video posted on Sardesai’s X (formerly Twitter) handle on July 27 wherein Sardesai had claimed that Ilmi abused an India Today journalist during a TV debate.

Ilmi is also seeking an interim injunction to pull down the alleged defamatory post wherein she can be purportedly seen taking off her mic and walking out.

Advocate Nattasha Garg, representing Ilmi, said that the suit is also seeking an apology and compensation to the tune of Rs 2 crore from Sardesai.

The Court of Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora directed Sardesai and India Today to place the complete video of the incident on the Court’s record by the next date of hearing, scheduled for August 13.
